EasyDifficulty

Through the farmland of Sa Pobla and Muro, out to the walls of Alcúdia and back along the bay. Smooth tarmac, quiet lanes and almost no climbing, so you can hold a steady tempo the whole way. The route the pros use for endurance days.

What to expect

Sixty kilometres with almost no climbing. The route crosses the farmland of the north-east plain around Sa Pobla and Muro on quiet country roads, reaches the old walled town of Alcúdia and comes back along the bay. Expect long straight stretches where a group can ride two abreast and keep a steady pace.

Wind is the only climb

On the plain the hills are replaced by wind. In the afternoon a sea breeze often picks up across the bay, so it pays to ride the exposed sections in the morning, or to plan the route so that the headwind comes first and the tailwind takes you home.

Good to know

This is the classic loop for building endurance at the start of a training week and for mixed groups, because nobody gets dropped on a climb. An aero bike such as the Propel or the EnviLiv feels at home here, and an e-bike makes it an easy day out for anyone not used to the distance.

Best for

Endurance base miles, group rides, riders who prefer flat roads.
